Can I give my child Phenergan to sleep?
Sedative medications include the antihistamine drugs Vallergan and Phenergan. Your child should take sedative medications only under the supervision of your doctor. These medications aren’t recommended for children under three years of age.

Can you take Phenergan every night?

How quickly does Phenergan work?
Promethazine will start to make you feel sleepy around 20 minutes after you take it and may work for up to 12 hours. If you’re taking it for a cough or cold, allergies or nausea, your symptoms should start to improve within 20 minutes. The medicine should work for around 4 to 6 hours.
Is it OK to take Phenergan long term?
Phenothiazines such as promethazine can cause skin hyperpigmentation (darkening) but usually only after prolonged use. The effect usually is restricted to areas of the body exposed to sunlight. Thus, people who need long-term treatment with promethazine should either keep out of the sun or use effective sunscreens.
